Childcare Johannesburg
The Need for Quality Childcare in Johannesburg
Abraham Kriel Bambanani is a registered NPO that provides childcare and skills development for traumatised children and youth in need in the greater Johannesburg area. The provision of care and early development opportunities for children should, not be underestimated under any circumstances. Alternative care is not only vital in keeping children healthy and safe, but it also impacts and determines their chances of success at school and their lives as adults.
Considering the extended impact of such care, it is also safe to say that it is an essential investment in the future of the country, and an important step in breaking the cycle of poverty and hunger for future generations.
While the need for quality childcare is a priority right across South Africa, we are highlighting the need in Johannesburg due to the fact that Gauteng is estimated to be home to 21% of all children in South Africa – the largest share amongst all provinces. Furthermore, a fifth of all children from households that reported child hunger, are from Gauteng.
Given these extreme figures, the need to provide quality childcare is a top priority in Johannesburg and its surrounding areas.
Abraham Kriel Bambanani is determined to make a difference in the lives of children in need in the greater Johannesburg area. We strive to deliver proper and comprehensive childcare in the form of shelter, physical care, rehabilitation and development for beneficiaries that have been subjected to trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty and neglect. In order to address this array of needs, we provide support in a number of forms, including through residential care, community services, and educational programmes.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made our efforts so much more challenging. Not only was movement restricted and risks high for everyone involved, but the number of children in need also increased exponentially. Adding to this was the fact that so many companies who supported us now had their own challenges to face, causing our support to dwindle. That said, there have always been amazing people in South Africa who are willing to help us make the world a better place.
There are so many ways to support Abraham Kriel Bambanani. The quickest and easiest way is to simply make a small donation of R150, which allows us to put together food parcels for hungry children and their carers – probably the most pressing issue during lockdown. You can also get in touch to find out more about ways to get involved to help us deliver quality childcare in Johannesburg and its surrounding areas.
